Ride7 is our new generation development environment that brings together project manager,
source editor, compiler tools, debugger in one easy-to-use environment. This new version of Ride brings
a wide variety of improvements to the overall development environment. The main enhancements of the new
interface that we invite you to discover and to give us a feedback on are the following:
-
New Installation process: Ride7 IDE and the different components (RKit) are now
completely separated. You can now install, update or uninstall each component independently.
Ride7 IDE is now available for two toolchains: ARM and ST7-STM8.
Please note that you need to install Ride7 whatever the toolchain you want to use.
-
Improved Interface: Ride 7 comes with an enhanced view
management, letting the user customize its design and debug workspaces.
-
Improved Editor: Ride7 comes with a Scintilla based programmer's editor with a set of
complex features like code outlining, context-sensitive auto-completion and prototype-hinting.
-
Improved Project Manager: Ride7 project manager will help you organize your files and
source codes and gives you an easy access for changing the settings of the building tools. You will
now be able to focus on your application instead of the tools you use to build it.

Ride7 Integrated Development Environment integrates all
the software and hardware tools for higher productivity. It is the main component
and must always be installed, whatever the chosen toolchain (RKit) you want to use.
Ride7 IDE is target-independent, so you also need to download
at least one of the device family kits.
RFlasher7 is a specific operating mode of Ride7 that
is focused on device programming and associated features.
In this operating mode, tasks such as
- Flash memory erasing and programming,
- Flash or RAM memory dumping,
- Blank check, programming verifications and
- Mass programming process
become intuitive and can be achieved with only a few clicks.
RKit-ARM for Ride7 is available.
This kit supports the STR7, STR9 and STM32 families.
This kit does not include Ride7, so before installing it, please make sure Ride7 IDE
is already installed on your PC or use a package including Ride7 (see above).
Remarks:
-
During a simulation session, the Trace feature gives the possibility
to record the executed instructions to follow the flow of program execution.
RKit-STM8 for Ride7 is available.
This kit supports the ST7 and STM8 families.
The Raisonance RCSTM8 compiler is provided in evaluation version.
This kit also includes RBuilder, an Application Builder Wizard
that helps bootstrapping applications by providing a button-click interface for:
- Peripheral selection and configuration
- Project skeleton generation (including C sources)
RBuilder only supports ST7 devices for now.
This kit does not include Ride7, so before installing it, please make sure Ride7 IDE
is already installed on your PC or use a package including Ride7 (see above).
-
Please check that your computer meets our Minimum System Requirements:
-
Download Ride7 and the chosen software kit (RKit-ARM or RKit-STM8).
Several kits can be provided in a single package, see the list
here.

Can I install and test Ride7 on a computer where Ride 6.10 is installed?
You can install and uninstall Ride7 on the same computer, but do not install Ride7 in the same
directory than Ride. Ride7 can open and convert Ride 6.10 ST7 and STRx projects but the project configuration
will be lost (only target selection and project tree will be converted).
-
I already have a license for the RCSTM8/RCST7 16KB version or higher, can I use it with Ride7?
Yes you can. Please also note that the registration system is shared between Ride6 and Ride7: if you
already have installed and registered a Software Kit using Ride6, then Ride7 will detect the registration
automatically.
-
When are the other targets going to be available?
The integration of other target families is in progress, and will be available for testing soon.
- Ride7 can read Ride 6.10 projects (.prj extension) but does not convert the settings (project options).
- Ride7 does not support Ride 6.10 script files. However, it embeds a JScript engine that can be used for scripting.
- Ride7 does not support concurrent simulation of several applications.
- There is no possibility to change the displayed format of watched expressions.
- Setting conditions on a breakpoint flag has no effect.
- It is not possible to highlight the matching values of the last search in Data Dump views like in Ride6.
- It is not possible in this version to create a Library project (.lib).
- For ST7 users note that:
- Ride7 does not support Cosmic and Metrowerks ST7 tools.
- Ride7 does not support in this version ST emulation tools ( DVP3 and EMU3 ).
- In this version, there is no possibility to record expressions during a trace session.
-
