 ARM STR7 (ARM7) Solutions

Raisonance has developed, in co-operation with STMicroelectronics, a comprehensive toolset for the STR7 family, based on the ARM7 powered 32-bit Flash Microcontrollers.
Below is a diagram showing the different tools available to work with.

RKit-STRx GNU tools Simulator RIDE IDE Rlink in-circuit debugger & programmer JTAGjet emulator Universal Development Board

REva board

RKit-STRx

The RKit-STRx software toolchain includes GNU Tools (C Compiler, Assembler and Linker), Simulator/Debugger, PDK and drivers for the STR7 (ARM7) evaluation boards and emulators. All these tools are integrated into RIDE.

RIDE
RIDE is the Raisonance Integrated Development Environment. It allows to manage all the software and hardware tools for the best ease of use.
2 versions of Ride are available and support ARM development tools: Ride6 and Ride7.

GNU Tools
STR7 (ARM7) GNU tools are fully integrated into RIDE, so that there is no need for makefiles or complex command lines.
There are also some specific libraries that are provided for a better adaptation to the STR7 (ARM7) microcontrollers:

  • The STR7 libraries from ST allow a quick configuration and simple use of the embedded peripherals.
  • The original ANSI libraries from GNU (scanf, printf, ...) have been simplified and optimized to match with the embedded world requirements

The GNU C Compiler is reliable and very optimizing. You can look at the Benchmarks for comparison with other ARM Compilers.

Simulator
RIDE provides a simulator capable of simulating the ARM instructions set and makes it possible to check the interaction between the application code and a peripheral before going on to debug with an in-circuit debugger as (RLink) or emulator (as JTAGjet-ETM).

Drivers
USB drivers for RLink and JTAGjet are included in the software kit.

RFlasher
RFlasher is a user-friendly programming interface allowing you to program the flash memory.
It is only available with Ride6 for now.

Hardware Tools

RLink
In addition to the Raisonance simulator, RIDE can be used with a number of hardware debugging tools, including the Raisonance RLink for in-circuit debugger & programmer.
Two box versions are available for STR7 devices: RLink-std and RLink-Pro.
RLink-std is the standard version it allows you to program without any resctrictions and to debug up to 32KB (With RIDE build BN 7.47 and higher).
Rlink-Pro is the professional version. It allows complete programming and debugging for devices supported by Ride.

ARM7 in-circuit debugger & programmer

JTAGjet-ETM
JTAGjet-ETM is a small, palm-sized In-Circuit Debugger dedicated to supporting the STMicroelectronics family of ARM based microcontrollers. It supports all ARM7 based devices from STMicroelectronics, including: STR71x, STR72x and STR73x. It has been developed by Signum Systems.

REva
Raisonance has also developed a Universal Development Board named REva. This board is fully managed by RIDE allowing to debug and program directly on it.
Up to now, daughter boards with STR711F-DB, STR712F-DB, STR730F-DB or STR750F-DB are available, allowing support for the following components:

  • STR711F
  • STR712F
  • STR730F
  • STR750F

RDI Driver (Optional)

The RDI (Remote Debug Interface) driver can be used with RLink for the STR processors. It allows you to use third party debuggers in order to debug with the Raisonance RLink-Pro. It has been developed by Signum Systems. You can get it from their web page.
