Description
REva is the Raisonance's Universal Evaluation Board made as an innovative modular platform
that consists of a generic motherboard with interchangeable daughter boards
supporting several target microcontrollers and of an embedded RLink In-Circuit Programmer and
Debugger. It has been designed for quick and easy evaluation of a wide range
of microcontrollers.
The REva's key features include:
-
Digital and analog I/O evaluation features including on-board LEDs, buttons,
switches, external analog connector, temperature sensor and
potentiometer,
- On-board I²C EEPROM and bus extension connector,
- On-board RS232 driver and DB9 connector,
- SPI, CAN and USB connections (depending on the target device),
- Embedded RLink for in-circuit debugging and in-circuit programming,
- USB powered, no external power required.
- VDD settings for 1.8v, 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers

The REva mother board can be powered by an external power supply which is not provided.
The characteristics of the power supply are:
- 9V DC output (6V for STR9),
- 2.1 x 5.5 mm jack connector with ground signal on the outside.
Operating Modes
At the time of manufacturing, the REva and the RLink are connected to allow in-circuit debugging and in-circuit
programming of the microcontroller on the REva daughter board, without additional power supply or cables.
The two tools can also be easily broken apart so that both the REva and the RLink can be used
independently, or together. This requires the use of the furnished connection cable and an
additional external 9V (6V for STR9) power supply (not furnished) for the REva.
It is advised to only break the boards apart when required by your application.
Note that when separated from the REva, the RLink has the same in-circuit debugging and programming
characteristics as the stand-alone RLink version 2.0.
As a result there are two possible configurations:
-
"REva with embedded RLink": REva and RLink
boards are attached, no connection cable is required and
power is supplied by the USB connection (see picture below).

. USB power supply for both RLink and REva
. On board ISP/ISD communication

|
-
"Broken apart mode": The REva is connected
to the RLink (or other tool that supports in-circuit
debugging and programming) via a connection cable. Power is
supplied by a 9V auxiliary power supply (see picture below).

. External power supply for REva (9V DC, set jumpers to jack position
. Cable ISP/ISD communications

RIDE
RIDE is included in the different ST7/STM8/STR7/STR9/STM32/uPSD Starter Kits.
It is a full Integrated Development Environment (IDE) featuring color syntax highlighting editor, project manager, on-line
help and full control over all the tools of the toolchain.
It allows you to manage the In-Circuit Programming (ICP) and In-Circuit Debugging (ICD)
on the REva board through the RLink.
RIDE is currently available in two versions: Ride6 (More information here)
and Ride7 (more information here).
They come with a number of specific software tools depending on the family used:
- For ST7: RIDE (version 7), Assembler, Linker, Simulator, CodeCompressor and RBuilder
- For STR7: RIDE (version 7), C Compiler, Assembler, Linker, Simulator
- For STR9: RIDE (version 7), C Compiler, Assembler, Linker, Simulator
- For STM32: RIDE (version 7), C Compiler, Assembler, Linker, Simulator
- For uPSD (8051 family): RIDE (version 6 only) and 4k limited tools (C Compiler, Assembler, Linker, Simulator)
You can download a version of a RIDE software kit here.
RLink
RLink is an In-Circuit Debugger & Programmer with USB interface
device designed by RAISONANCE that allows in-circuit debugging and
in-circuit programming of various microcontrollers, including all
the ST7 and STM8 devices supported by RIDE.
The functionalities of this embedded version of RLink are the same
as the stand alone version (see RLink).
Daughter Boards
The daughter boards contain all the components dedicated to a specific
target, including the microcontroller itself, a clock selector and other device
dependent features.
Available daughter boards.
Additional ST7, STM8 and STR7 components will be soon available. Please check this web page again
for more information.
