This page contains a short overview of Tools Versions management at Raisonance followed by
information on Upgrade and Update Rules
To get information on the current releases and a
history of the improvements implemented
in each new release, refer to the Support ¦ Software Releases Section.
Overview
Raisonance Tools are organized into Toolchains: one for 8051, one for XA, one for ST6 and so on.
Each Toolchain has a version number that you can see in the Help ¦ About menu in RIDE.
As RIDE (the Integrated Development Environment or User Interface) is common across the
toolchains it gets a Version Number of its own that does not depend from any toolchain. On top
of all this, every tool in the toolchain
has its own version number and every 'package' we ship has a Build Number, from which we
can trace back all the version numbers of toolchains and tools that are included in it.
Raisonance Version Numbers are always in the format aa.bb.cc: cc is typically increased for any
change in the tool or toolchain, bb is increased for bug corrections or major improvements, aa
is increased for major changes only.
Upgrade and Update Rules
The version control incorporated into RIDE since October 2000 works on aa and bb only (the Major version numbers):
this means that, once you
have bought a version say 7.04.01, you can always download from this site all succesive versions
7.04.xx and they will work on your computer by just installing the new version on top of the old one.
When you are under a Maintenance Contract (that is, during the first year after your purchase
or if you specifically subscribe to it later on) you have a special Username and Password that
allows you to access a specific section of this website that is reserved to customers and
where you can download an extra file that will enable you to install the latest version of
the tools on top of whatever previous version.
